Frequently asked questions
Which video formats work?
Anything your browser can play: H.264 MP4 and WebM work everywhere. HEVC (H.265) .mov files from iPhones play in Safari but usually not in Chrome or Firefox; convert them to H.264 MP4 first.
Is my video uploaded?
No. The file is opened locally with the browser's video element and frames are drawn to a canvas on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere, and large files are fine.
How accurate is frame stepping?
The tool estimates the frame rate from playback and steps by one frame duration. Most browsers seek to the nearest decodable frame, so a step may occasionally land on the same frame; step again or use the 1 second buttons.
Why does my capture have black bars?
Letterbox mode fits the whole frame inside 1280x720. Choose Crop to fill the frame instead, or Native to export at the video's own resolution.
